Scots have migrated all over the world and have often had a profound impact on the areas where they settled. The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry Project brought together stories from world wide communities, documenting their Scottish connections in more than 300 embroidered panels. It is a remarkable and heart-felt homage to the determination, courage and achievement of Scottish migrants and their descendants across the centuries.
The panels come from 35 countries and cover hundreds of years of history. They tell the stories of Scottish migration, international influence and cultural exchange. Together they provide an insight into Scotland’s global legacy, and the power historical connections still exerts today.
We have been fortunate to secure on loan from The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry (Prestoungrange Arts Festival) 40 panels. These tell stories from; Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, France, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand, Norway, Palestine/ Israel, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Tristan de Cunha and the USA.
