Barvas and Brue Historical Society was formed in 1995 and aims to promote an active interest in the history, heritage and culture of the Barvas and Brue area of the isle of Lewis.

Benbecula Historical Society was re-formed in 1996. Its main focus is on people and places on the island of Benbecula, which is situated between North and South Uist.
